Students receiving their A-Level results are being encouraged to look beyond their grades and explore the many routes into work, training and further study.
Hundreds of students across the county will receive their results today (August 13), and Staffordshire County Council’s Staffordshire Jobs and Careers service is offering anyone aged 18 and over fully funded, one-to-one careers and employability support.
Since starting, the service has supported more than 1,200 job seekers, including 425 young people aged 18 to 24. More than 260 people have been supported into paid employment, including 74 young people, with others helped into training, volunteering, partner support or other positive destinations.
Its website has received more than 300,000 page views and generated more than 20,000 job application clicks.
Janet Higgins, Cabinet Member for Education at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“I would like to congratulate all our young people receiving their A-Level results today. Whether your results were exactly what you hoped for or not, this is just one stage in your journey and there are many exciting opportunities ahead.
“Success does not come through a single route. University is the right choice for some, while others may choose an apprenticeship, further training or move directly into employment. What matters is finding the path that is right for you.
“I would encourage anyone who is unsure about their next steps to make use of the support available through Staffordshire Jobs and Careers. The service offers practical advice, guidance and encouragement to help young people make informed decisions and move forward with confidence into the next chapter of their lives.”

“Results day matters but your grades do not define your future. University is right for some people, while for others an apprenticeship, training or going straight into work will be the better route.
