Staffordshire residents urged to join countywide 'Quitathon' this No Smoking Day

Everyone Health Staffordshire is asking people who smoke to set a date to quit and take part in a countywide ‘Quitathon’ this National No Smoking Day (Wednesday 11 March 2026).

The ‘Big Quitathon’ offers residents a chance to take the first step towards a healthier, smoke‑free life with free expert support, personalised guidance and access to proven stop‑smoking aids. The initiative is designed to give people who smoke the motivation, tools and encouragement they need to successfully quit - and stay smoke free.

Everyone Health Staffordshire is commissioned by Staffordshire County Council to provide a comprehensive local stop smoking service. Those joining the Quitathon will receive:

·        One‑to‑one support from trained stop smoking specialists

·        A tailored quit plan to help manage cravings and build confidence

·        Access to free stop‑smoking aids, including patches, gum, inhalators, vapes, Cytisine and Varenicline

·        Regular weekly check‑ins by phone or face‑to‑face to keep motivation high

People who use support are three times more likely to quit successfully than those who go it alone - and Everyone Health is encouraging residents to seize their moment this March.

Martin Rogerson, cabinet member for Health and Care, said:

“Smoking remains one of the biggest causes of preventable illness and death. This ‘Quitathon’ gives people a real chance to make a change - with free, local support that really works. Last year over 3400 people across Staffordshire set a date to quit for good. Please get in touch and see how our services can help you get smoke free.”

It’s not just health benefits on offer either. Staffordshire resident, Kingsley, became smoke‑free with the support of Everyone Health. In just four weeks, he saved £560 which he is now putting towards improving his home.

Everyone Health Staffordshire will also be sharing stories, tips and encouragement across social media throughout March, helping to build momentum and inspire residents to set their quit date.
