Staffordshire residents can grab a bargain and support community groups at reuse sales events

People in Staffordshire can grab a household bargain and support a community group or charity at the same time at a series of pop-up sales events in March run by the county council.

At all of Staffordshire’s household waste recycling centres, good quality reusable items are donated to county charities, care leavers who are setting up a new home or sold at one of the regular Rescue Me pop-up sales.

In 2025 the events raised just over £14,500 for a range of local community groups and charities – with every penny making a difference to someone in Staffordshire.

People can pick up a wide variety of bargains of items including kitchenware, toys, books, sports equipment and more. All money raised goes directly to a local charity or community organisation in the area the pop-up sale takes place.

The sales are held by the county council’s waste management team, which also supports Repair Café events in Staffordshire where people can bring their own items to be repaired and socialise with other attendees.

The next Rescue Me pop-up sales take place on:

Andrew Mynors, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for connectivity who oversees waste management, said:

Our Rescue Me events raised £14,500 for local organisations last year – a fantastic amount through the reuse of good quality items.

We have a busy month ahead with our Rescue Me pop-up sales events taking place at venues across the county. There’s an extensive range of household items from sports and leisure to books and small furniture at the Rescue Me events, so they offer a great opportunity to pick up a bargain.

Many of the items brought to our household waste recycling centres are of good quality and can be put to good use. Anyone attending one of the sales events can save money, reduce waste and help others.

This is another example of how our teams work with our communities on a daily basis in addition to providing our key services.”

The team also supports Repair Café events across the county, where people can take their useful items to get fixed for future use.

Anyone who would like to host a pop up or have space available should contact wastesavvy@staffordshire.gov.uk
