Work to create access to a new commercial development next to the M6 in Stafford is now reaching its final phase.
The junction and road widening forms part of the Stafford Gate scheme at Creswell on the A5013 Creswell Grove, next to junction 14. Overnight road surfacing is now set to take place from Monday 19 October until Friday 23 October. Full closures of this section of the road will be needed from 10pm until 6am on these nights, withs signed diversion in place.
All traffic management on this section is scheduled to be taken off by the weekend of 31 October. The last part of the scheme will be east of Junction 14, where a new pedestrian refuge will be installed. There will also be some resurfacing on the roundabout. Temporary traffic signals will be in place during this period.
The road scheme is for commercial development by Strawsons Property and is fully funded by the company. Work began in May, with a one-way order in place towards Stafford so that work could be carried out safely.
Patrick Allen, Cabinet Support Member for Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said:
This scheme supports a significant development which will create jobs in the local area and provide a range of leisure facilities.
It is close to a major junction and we understand the traffic management has caused disruption, but we’ve worked with the developer to ensure it has been carried out as quickly as possible.
We’d again like to thank local residents and the wider travelling public during the works period. We now look forward to the scheme completion in the coming weeks.”
