A highway improvement scheme to make driving safer in the Staffordshire Moorlands is due to begin this month.
Starting on Monday 23 February, the £37k project will see crews make improvements to High Lane, Breach Road and Clay Lake on the B5051 between Endon and Brown Edge, and Station Road at Endon.
The improvements follow consultation with local residents and include new 30mph signs and safety camera reminders to reinforce the speed limit. An upgraded illuminated Give Way sign will also be installed at the Broad Lane/Breach Road junction.
Additionally, white road markings to highlight dropped kerbs will be installed along Clay Lake and Station Road. Double yellow lines will also be installed along Station Road and its junction with the A53 Leek Road to improve safety.
The scheme is due to take approximately four to five days to complete, weather permitting.
Patrick Allen, Cabinet Support Member for Highways North at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“Keeping our roads and pedestrians safe remains our top priority and we do listen to residents when they have concerns about road safety in their area.
“These improvements will make a real difference for local residents and for everyone who travels between Endon and Brown Edge.
Crews plan to do the road marking works on Clay Lake and Station Road on 25 February and we would ask that people avoid parking there so crews can get the work done. As always, our teams will work as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption and we thank people in advance for their co-operation.”
