Plans to extend the county council’s Community Learning Framework to 2029 means people from across Staffordshire will continue to benefit from high quality learning opportunities.
The proposed extension of the service will provide important continuity during the period of Local Government Reorganisation due to take place over the next two years.
The highly popular Community Learning Service continues to help thousands of adults who want to develop their skills for their future. It allows them to build their confidence, improve wellbeing and progress towards employment and further learning.
Courses are delivered in community venues, online and through outreach activities. Since September 2025, there have been over 2,000 sign-ups to courses with 99% of learners who would recommend the service to family and friends.
Robin Hall, Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills at Staffordshire County Council, said:
"Community Learning changes lives. Every year, over 2,000 Staffordshire residents gain the confidence, skills and support they need to improve their wellbeing, live more independently and take the next step towards employment or further learning.
"It's about much more than education. It helps people build resilience, improve their digital and everyday life skills, support their families and access better opportunities.
"Extending the Community Learning Framework provides stability during Local Government Reorganisation. It means learners won't see disruption to the services they rely on, while giving us the time to develop the right long-term arrangements for the future.
"It also gives our trusted delivery partners the confidence to plan ahead and continue delivering high-quality learning across the county. By maintaining those established partnerships, we can ensure residents continue to receive the support they need while we focus on building an even stronger service for the years ahead.”
The proposal will be discussed at a meeting of the council’s Cabinet on Wednesday 15 July 2026.
