People interested in exploring the rich stories of rural and village life across Staffordshire are invited to a new travelling heritage exhibition.
Drawing on historic records, photographs and objects from the county’s collections, the “Among the Footpaths and Fields” exhibition celebrates everyday experiences, traditions, and the people who have shaped life in the county’s villages for hundreds of years.
Amongst the items are a coachbuilder's traveller, a horse hair clipper and a milk can.
The exhibition will visit selected libraries in South Staffordshire and the Staffordshire Moorlands over the next 12 months, having started in Kinver in June and finishing in Leek in July next year.
Hayley Coles, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“We’re proud to bring this exhibition to communities in South Staffordshire and the Moorlands, shining a light on the stories and everyday lives that shaped our villages over generations.
“This travelling exhibition offers a unique window into our shared heritage, and we hope its many stops over the next year make these collections more accessible and give residents the chance to connect with their local history.
“I’d encourage people of all ages to visit and feel inspired by the rich past of our county.”
