A new Cabinet member has been appointed at Staffordshire County Council to continue the drive to safeguard and improve the lives of children in the county.
Su Beardmore, the current Cabinet Support Member for SEND, becomes the new Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, taking over from Nick Lakin, who is stepping down due to increased family commitments. Nick will remain the County Councillor for Bradwell and Porthill.
Martin Murray, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, said:
I would like to thank Nick for his hard work and for the contribution he has made, not only to this council, but to improving the lives of young people in our county.
Ofsted recognised the improvement to our children’s services and there is no doubt he hands over the role leaving the council in a much stronger position.
I would also like to welcome Su to her new role in Cabinet and I have absolute confidence Su will continue to build on the work already delivered by Nick and our fantastic staff.”
An appointment for the Cabinet Support Member for SEND will be confirmed in due course.
