People are invited to a special event to celebrate 100 years of Winnie the Pooh alongside teams from Staffordshire Libraries and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
‘Tales from the Forest’ will bring together storytelling, nature and family fun as part of Winnie the Pooh’s centenary celebrations and the National Year of Reading.
The free event invites children and their families to follow a Winnie the Pooh-themed story trail around Coombes Valley RSPB Reserve near Leek. Along the way, visitors can enjoy craft activities, search for bees, spot local wildlife and let their imaginations run wild in the woodland setting.
The event will take place on Saturday 22 August from 10am to 1pm and is designed for children aged 4 to 11 years old and their accompanying adults. It aims to encourage a love of reading while helping families connect with nature.
Hayley Coles, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, will be at the event and part of the story telling team.

“Winnie the Pooh has been inspiring generations of children for 100 years and was one of my favourite books growing up. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate one of literature’s most beloved characters.
“By combining storytelling with outdoor exploration, this event encourages children to discover the joy of reading while enjoying Staffordshire’s fantastic natural spaces. We’re delighted to be working with partners to create such a fun experience for families as part of the National Year of Reading.
“Libraries continue to be hubs in local communities, providing access to important services, resources and support. They also play a vital role in inspiring children, and I hope families can join us for this fantastic day.”
