Hundreds of families in Cannock and Rugeley continue to do well thanks to their local family hub and other local organisations.
The Staffordshire County Council-run hub on Cannock Road in Cannock plays a vital role in supporting children and families across the district.
Key to the hub’s success is its close working with local organisations who, between them, provide vital support to local families.
A range of services are now running from both the Cannock Chase Hub and the rooms at Rugeley Community Centre, including early years activities, well-baby clinics, school nurse sessions, SEND support and much more.
Nicholas Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“Cannock Family Hub is a real success story and continues to grow as a busy and welcoming space thanks to the wide range of partners working together to support local families in the area.
“Our family hubs are located across the county and provide vital services and activities. It’s wonderful to see so many families doing so well.”
One of the hub’s key partners has been West Chadsmoor Family Centre, which runs two weekly sessions, a baby chat session and a Story Craft session for children aged two and above.
Emma Cox from West Chadsmoor Family Centre said:
“Working in partnership with Cannock Family Hub has been a real success story that’s helping improve the lives of local families.
“For example, our ABC (adult baby chat) session for new parents is making such a difference thanks to this collaborative effort. We really look forward to developing even more activities in the future.”
The Hub also works closely with the Cannock Chase Teen ASC and Mental Health Group, a volunteer‑run organisation offering a safe and friendly space to neurodiverse teens aged 11-18 years. The group gives young people a chance to socialise, feel valued and build a sense of belonging.
Claire Ryder, Chairperson and Co- Founder of Cannock Chase Teen ASC Group, added:
“Working together with the Family Hub has been really effective and helped strengthened what we can offer. It has made it much easier for our teens to access peer-to-peer support and friendship in a familiar and welcoming environment.”
Family hubs are located across Staffordshire and bring together different services in a one-stop shop to make it easier for families to get the help they need. Further information on the hubs is available on the Staffordshire Family Hubs webpage.
