Families are invited to hop into the great outdoors this Easter, with a basket full of egg-citing activities taking place across Staffordshire’s country parks.
Staffordshire County Council’s countryside team has been busy preparing a cracking programme of seasonal fun, giving children the chance to explore nature, get creative and enjoy some fresh air over the school holidays.
Young adventurers can follow the Easter scavenger hunt trail at Cannock Chase Country Park with a chocolatey treat waiting for them at the finish line. Trail sheets are available from the Cannock Chase Visitor Centre at Marquis Drive between 10am and 3pm, Thursday to Monday, running until Sunday 12 April.
Hop into fun with a free Easter Trail at Chasewater Country Park, which is running every day between Wednesday 1 April and Tuesday 7 April from 10am to 3pm. Trail maps can be collected from the Chasewater Innovation Centre.
There’s plenty more to keep little ones entertained throughout the break. On Wednesday 1 April, children can take part in an afternoon of environmental games at the Cannock Chase Visitor Centre. Taking place from 1pm to 3pm, the session offers a fun way to learn more about the natural world.
On Thursday 9 April, families can step into a world of imagination at the Chase Creatures Day, running from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Budding explorers can follow a trail to discover 12 magical characters, and enjoy hands-on activities including badge-making, nature crafts and colouring.
The Easter activities continue on Friday 10 April with a Creative Cannock Chase session from 1pm to 3pm. Children can build nests, design their own Chase Creature and create a picture frame to take home.
All sessions are aimed at children aged 5–12, although older children are welcome to join in. Adults must accompany children at all times.
Sarah Bentley, Staffordshire County Council’s Head of Environment and Countryside, said:
“Easter is a wonderful time to get outdoors and enjoy everything our country parks have to offer. Our team has worked really hard to put together a fun and engaging programme that helps children connect with nature in a hands-on way.
“We hope families will come along, have a great time and make the most of these egg-stra special activities. While you’re out exploring, we’d also ask everyone to respect the countryside and wildlife by sticking to paths, keeping pets on leads, and leaving only footprints.”
