Families are invited to discover the county’s rich heritage and have a lot of fun this summer at the county’s history centre.
The Staffordshire History Centre, on Eastgate Street in Stafford, continues to attract visitors from across the county and beyond.
The current exhibition, Leek to Llandudno, celebrates the traditional seaside holiday and features a collection of seaside-themed objects, a ticket-stamping trail, and a toy ice cream stand for children to enjoy. The exhibition taps into the long-standing connection many people from North Staffordshire have with holidays in the popular Welsh coastal town.
Other special events taking place include a transport-themed Family Fun Day on Tuesday 18 August, featuring visits from two vintage vehicles and the chance to sit in a 1924 Duchess Rolls Royce. Families will also be able to take part in games, activities, challenges and crafts.
On Tuesday 25 August, the seaside will be coming to Stafford as the centre and Stafford Library team up for a beach-themed day packed with crafts, story times, dressing up activities and family trails.
As well as the family fun, history lovers and those interested in ancestry can get help from the centre’s knowledgeable staff and volunteers, who can help people begin their family history journey and uncover fascinating information about their ancestors.

“There’s something for everyone at the centre, from the fun activity days to researching your family tree with the help of our staff and volunteers. I’d encourage residents and visitors alike to come along and see what makes the centre such a special place."
Since opening in November 2024, the centre has welcomed over 28,000 visitors and has become a popular destination for people exploring local history, researching their family tree, and enjoying a wide range of exhibitions and events.
