• The scheme helps Year 3 and 4 pupils build confidence walking safely near roads.

• Practical, supervised training supports safer independent travel.

• Trading Standards officers seized illegal tobacco and vape products with estimated retail value of £14k

• Three shops in Newcastle-under-Lyme were raided

• Shops are now under investigation and could be forced to close

Work starts on next stage of Burton cycleway project

• Work has now started on Phase 3/5 of the Borough Road cycleway project in Burton.

• This latest phase will see crews work on Wellington Street and will take around two weeks to complete.

• Work paused for two weeks to allow for repairs on Stapenhill Road without causing excessive disruption.

• £260k improvement scheme at Dimsdale Parade West in Newcastle completed.

• Work included road resurfacing and kerb/ironworks repairs.

• Part of new Roadmap towards better and safer roads.

Two men stood either side of a giant white sculpture of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Staffy, which is the county's new visitor mascot.

Trentham Estate becomes first official Staffy sponsor

• Trentham Estate is the first organisation to sponsor a ‘Staffy’ sculpture for a new public art trail celebrating 10 years of Staffordshire Day.

• The sculpture will be displayed in Stafford during the 10 week trail before returning to Trentham as a lasting legacy.

• Painted by local schoolchildren, the sculpture will feature Trentham’s colours and help promote Staffordshire to visitors and businesses.

People urged to report sales of illegal skin lightening products to Trading Standards

• Trading Standards warn of illegal skin-lightening products being sold on high streets.

• These products can contain banned chemicals that pose serious health risks.

• Advice includes never to buy from unverified sellers or social media accounts, never use on children and always speak to your doctor before use.

The Morfe Mill road bridge in Enville, which has just undergone strengthening works.

Bridge strengthening works complete in South Staffordshire

• Strengthening works have been completed on Morfe Mill Bridge in Enville.

• Work included adding a new concrete saddle and parapets and added protections to foundations.

• It is one of over 500 road bridges in Staffordshire estimated to be over 100 years old.

• Stafford Family Hub helps families eat more healthily with cooking event.

• The ‘Sow, Grow, Cook and Eat’ showed families how to prepare food by scratch, including sowing seeds and baking bread.

• Part of council's Just Add Veg campaign, a county-wide initiative to promote healthier eating.

• Staffordshire History Centre are hosting a range of walking tours and spotlight talks on the county’s rich history.

• Walks include exploration into Stafford’s grisly past of crime and punishment and links to the monarchy, while talks span topics including fashion and military history.

• The events are either free or at low cost.
