Waste minimisation workshop case study
More than 1,200 primary school children across East Staffordshire and Newcastle took part in the Council’s Waste and Recycling Roadshow, run by the Sustainability Team.
The workshops helped children learn how to reduce waste, reuse things and recycle more. Through fun activities and games, they found out what happens to rubbish after it leaves their homes and why it is important to keep the right items in the right bin.
The sessions helped children see that simple actions at home can make a big difference. For many, it was surprising to learn how much of their everyday rubbish could still be recycled.
The roadshow received positive feedback from teachers and pupils. Following this success, the roadshow will continue to be rolled out with Staffordshire communities, helping more children and families learn how to waste less and recycle more.
