Become a community panel member
As a volunteer, you’ll join a referral panel. This is a meeting where:
- A young person who has committed a crime talks about what happened.
- The person harmed (the victim) can say how it affected them.
- Everyone works together to agree a plan to make things right.
What you’ll do
As a panel member, you’ll:
- Help young people take responsibility for their actions
- Support them to make better choices
- Help repair the harm caused
- Encourage them to be part of their community
Who can volunteer?
You can apply if you:
- Are over 18
- Are a good listener and communicator
- Care about your community
- Want to make a difference
Time and training
- Panels usually meet once a week, often on Thursday evenings
- Meetings last about 2 hours
- You’ll get full training and support
- Travel costs are paid
