Details, locations and traffic management for Phase 2 of work
Phase 2: Following on from the civil works, we will begin our second phase of the scheme, which is the carriageway overnight reconstruction works (Monday to Friday) between the hours of 7pm to 6am. From Tuesday 27 May 2025 we’ll begin by undertaking a ground utility survey, ahead of removing the existing carriageway surface and re-setting the carriageway ironworks. The new carriageway surface will then be laid, ahead of emptying the highway gullies and finally replacing the new road markings. These works are due to be completed by Friday 20 June 2025.
Please see the table below which details the dates, locations and traffic management that will be in place during these works.
Due to the size and scale of construction machines being used and to ensure the safety of the general public and workforce, this phase of works will be carried out under full road closures.
To allow the carriageway reconstruction works to be carried out safely, and to minimise disruption, we’ll be working overnight when traffic volumes are lower.

A signed diversion route will be in place during the closures; along with designated personnel at either end of the closure points to offer assistance with residential properties and business access. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the road closures when safe to do so.
Pedestrian access along the length of the works will be maintained throughout.
During the carriageway reconstruction, there will be parking restrictions in place on the highway during the road closures. Businesses along the areas of work will be open as usual with limited access for periods of time whilst materials are being removed and cured. This is for safety of the public and the safety of the workforce. Additional signage will be placed at key strategic points, directing members of the public wanting to access for local businesses during the road closures. Designated personnel will be positioned at either end of the closure points to offer advice and assist with access to properties and businesses within the closure points.
Regrettably, bus stops along the scheme of works will be suspended during the road closures. If you require any further information about this service, please speak to your bus operator.
Unfortunately, with any major highway works, some disturbance is unavoidable, and there may be short delays even on the approaches to the closure points. We must ask that you drive carefully and slowly through any sections of live roadworks for both the workforces and your own safety.
During the road closure period, waste and recycling collections will remain the same, on their normal collection days.
Please note that all dates are subject to change due to operational requirements and weather conditions. Weekend working may be used where necessary.
The works may at times be noisy, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disturbance caused. We’ll do our best to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible. We like to thank you for your patience during this works.

You can help us to get the job done with the minimum of fuss by following this advice:
-
