CX030 Structural Maintenance Works on A513 Upper Gungate, Tamworth

Staffordshire County Council have now commenced works at A513 Upper Gungate and Aldergate, Tamworth on a £1,200,000 investment in the local area.

This scheme of work is due to take place between Lichfield Street and Comberford Road and also includes 160m section of Offa Drive. This work will be completed in 5 phases.

Work will include replacement of ironwork where necessary, repairing damaged drainage systems, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway, traffic signal loops and road markings will all be replaced following surfacing.

Traffic management will vary dependent on which phase of works is live. Road closures will be required during civils and surfacing phases of the works. Details of the phases of works and expected dates of working are within the scheme letter and as tabled below.

When are the works taking place?

The work commenced on 10 February 2025 and will take approximately 12 weeks.

How long will the works take?

Approximately 12 weeks.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

For the safety of the public and of the work force, there will be phased traffic management including road closures. Where road closures are required a full diversion route will be in place.

Please help us to complete our works swiftly and safely by accessing at times when roads are open. Gatemen will be at road closure points if urgent access is required.

What effect could the works have on me?

We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some traffic delays may occur.

Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that construction noise will be heard during the working times.
