S278 St Johns RC School, Gloucester Road, Kidsgrove – Highway works

The scheme involves construction of new zebra crossings on Gloucester Road, installation of new traffic calming measures in the form of speed cushions, parking area improvements, and associated resurfacing, as shown on the accompanying general arrangement drawings.

This project forms part of a wider improvement scheme for St John the Evangelist Catholic Academy and is being delivered by Amey Transport Infrastructure on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE).

When are the works taking place?

Works are scheduled to commence on Monday 5th January 2026 and are expected to last approximately 15 weeks.

How long will the works take?

Works are due to complete in April 2026.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

For the safety of the public and of the work force this road will be closed during the resurfacing of the carriageway. Exact dates for the closures are to be confirmed at a later date.

Access to the surrounding roads for residents will be maintained for the majority of the scheme. Delays must be expected during resurfacing phases.

During the road closures, a diversion route will be in place for properties outside the workspace, no through traffic will be permitted.

What effect could the works have on me?

To ensure the works can be carried out safely, temporary traffic signals will be in operation for the duration of the works.

In addition, a full road closure will be required to complete the surfacing and road marking activities.

This closure is expected to last approximately two weeks and has been scheduled during the school spring term holiday to minimise disruption to the local community and road users.
