D0265D S278 Land at Baldwins Gate (Puffin Crossing)
Highway works are to commence on A53 Newcastle Road, Baldwin’s Gate including construction of a new puffin crossing and associated resurfacing.
This scheme forms part of a wider highway improvement works associated with the Bellway Homes housing development on the adjacent land at Baldwins Gate. These works are being delivered by Alliance Groundworks and Civils Ltd on behalf of the developer, Bellway Homes.
When are the works taking place?
The works commence on 4 August 2025.
When will the works be completed?
The works are expected to take approximately 4 weeks to complete.
Will I be able to access my home/business?
Access to homes and businesses is to be maintained. Any access restrictions during the Night-time road closures will be communicated by the site team to those directly affected
What effect could the works have on me?
To allow the works to be carried out safely, temporary traffic management including temporary traffic signals will be required for the works duration.
Night-time road closures will be required for the surfacing works for approximately 4 nights towards the end of the works duration. A diversion route will be provided.
This may lead to some inconvenience and delay to journeys for highway users travelling along A53 Newcastle Road.
