Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The Staffordshire County Council (Stafford) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2018 (Amendment) No. 26/2024

1.         Staffordshire County Council on 19 March 2024 made a Traffic Regulation Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce the following:

Proposed Resident Permit Holders Only Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Castle Street, South Street and Railway Street, Stafford.

Proposed No Waiting at Any Time on South Street, Railway Street, and Castle Street, Stafford.

2.         Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH, and during opening hours at Stafford Library, Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford.

3.         Persons questioning the validity or provisions of the Order on the grounds that such powers are not conferred by the Act, or that any requirement or instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, may within 6 weeks from the date the Order was made apply to the High Court.

4.         The Order will commence on 22 March 2024

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The Staffordshire County Council (Stafford) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2018 (Amendment) No. 26/2024

The Staffordshire County Council  in exercise of its powers under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53, 124(1)(d) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 ("the Act of 1984") as amended and the Traffic Management Act 2004 ("the 2004 Act") as amended and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984 hereby makes the following Order:-

1.         This Amendment Order shall come into operation on 22 March 2024 and may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council (Stafford) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2018 (Amendment) No. 26/2024

2.         The above Order amends the Plans marked AV 189 and AV 188, incorporating waiting restrictions at locations specified in the Schedule to this Order and which form part of the Staffordshire County Council (Stafford) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2018  and in substitution thereof.

(20 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2024

1.         Staffordshire County Council on 19 March 2024 made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 that imposed a 20 mph speed limit on the following lengths of roads:

South Street, North Castle Street, Castle View, Jerningham Street, Railway Street, Derby Street, Russel Street, Peel Street, Landons Way, Trubshaw Grove, Tosney Place, Kerr Lane, Leys Close and Doxey Road, Stafford.

2.         Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Stafford Library, Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

(20 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2024

The Staffordshire County Council ("the Council") in exercise of its powers under Sections 84(1) and (2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 ("the Act") and all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makes the following Order:-

1.         No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 mph on the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Order.

2.         No speed limit imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

3.         The 30 MPH Speed limit Orders on the above-mentioned roads are hereby revoked.

4.         This Order may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council (South Street, North Castle Street, Castle View, Jerningham Street, Railway Street, Derby Street, Russel Street, Peel Street, Landons Way, Trubshaw Grove, Tosney Place, Kerr Lane, Leys Close and Doxey Road (Stafford)) (20 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024 and shall come into operation on 22 March 2024.

The Staffordshire County Council ("the Council") in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1) and 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makes the following Order the effect of which will be as follows:-

1. To amend ‘The Borough of Stafford (South Street, Stafford) (One-Way Traffic) Order 1988 and ‘The Borough of Stafford’ (Various Streets, Stafford) (Regulation) No. 4 so as to make cyclists exempt from the One Way Restrictions on South Street and Railway Street.

2. This Order shall come into operation on 22 March 2024 and may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council The Borough of Stafford (South Street, Stafford) (One-Way Traffic) Order 1988 and ‘The Borough of Stafford’ (Various Streets, Stafford) (Regulation) No. 4 (Amendment) 2024.

1.         Staffordshire County Council on 19 March 2024 made a Traffic Regulation Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prevent a vehicle travelling in a north easterly direction along Castle Street, Stafford from making a right turn into Railway Street.

2.         Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Stafford Library, Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford.

(Prohibition of Right Turn) Order 2024

The Staffordshire County Council ("the Council") in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9, to the Act, hereby makes the following Order:-

1.         Save as provided in Article 2, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in a north easterly direction along Castle Street, Stafford to make a right turn into Railway Street, Stafford.

2.         Nothing in Article 1 shall render it unlawful for any vehicle proceeding in a north easterly direction along Castle Street, Stafford to make a right turn into Railway Street for cyclists, police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes.

3.         This Order shall come into operation on 22 March 2024 and may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council (Castle Street, Stafford) (Prohibition of Right Turn) Order 2024.
