Get Work Ready! - Neurodiversity
The course is designed to help you to build your skills in applying for work, and describe your transferrable skills towards future work. You will be shown & taught how to help yourself in the workplace, asking for changes to suit your needs.
Who is this course aimed at?
Staffordshire residents aged 19+. This course is specifically aimed at those who are diagnosed as Neurodivergent and want to develop their understanding of how to address their needs in the workplace. Learners will develop their skills and confidence to successfully apply for work and attend interviews. Learners will also learn about how to have conversations with employers about addressing their individual needs to ensure the workplace is successful and supportive.
Entry Requirements
Staffordshire residents aged 19+. Aimed at learners who are formally diagnosed as Neurodivergent. Potential enrolled learners can seek further guidance at the initial assessment stage.
Course Content
As part of this course you will build on your skills and knowledge to help you in the pursuit of work or advancing your skills in order to be ready for work as well. As part of the programme you will look at your CV, transferrable skills and positive behaviours, interview techniques and much more! Also, this programme is co-designed to ensure that students who are neurodivergent get specialist knowledge on how to overcome barriers at work, how to ensure they know how to ask for reasonable adjustments at work and what sort of reasonable adjustments could be available to people in those types of work as well.
Learning Methods
The trainer will deliver the course in a friendly and welcoming classroom environment. You will have the opportunity to work independently and with your classmates in a range of activities and discussions.
Learner Support
All sessions are adapted according to the individual needs of learner. Accessibility : Newcastle: Inaccessible for those with limited mobility. Burton: Ground floor fully accessible. Biddulph: Lift available fully accessible. English and Maths initial assessments are carried out prior to the start of the course.
Course Assessments
No formal assessments will take place. Learner’s work and interactions on the course will be informally assessed with constructive feedback provided by tutors. Whilst on the course learners will complete an Individual Learning plan recording comments, feedback and work completed.
Learning Materials
Learners will be provided all course materials as part of the programme.

Throughout your course you will be provided with information and advice about other learning opportunities available to you. Progression opportunities may include other Community Learning courses, accredited courses such as maths, English or Digital or supported to seek volunteering or employment opportunities.
