Aims of course
The course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who live in Staffordshire, Staffordshire Moorlands (excludes Stoke-on-Trent). The course is for individuals who want to develop their knowledge and understanding of design and craft technologies. This course is designed to be a progression course for those individuals who wish to develop STEM skills further.
Entry requirements
No prior knowledge or experience is required. An interest in craft and design will be beneficial to support good progress with your course . Potential learners must be willing to commit to all course sessions and be willing to work towards learning aims and complete a learner journal.
Course content
Explore a variety of creative techniques such as painting, collage, textiles, and 3D crafts. Experiment with colours, textures, and patterns to express personal ideas and create handmade decorative and functional items for the home or as gifts. How you will learn?
Hands-on crafting sessions where learners design and make their own creations.Fully supported by a tutor with step-by-step demonstrations of tools, techniques, and materials. Structured tasks to build skills and confidence gradually.
Learner support
Learning support is offered throughout the course to meet learners' needs with extra guidance to ensure tasks can be completed.
Course assessments
Observation of learners completing creative tasks to assess skill development, safe use of tools, and application of techniques. Learners collect evidence of progress through photographs, design plans, and completed craft pieces. Tutor feedback and reviews.
Learning materials
All resources are supplied to carry out the craft and design projects on this course; however, you will be welcome to provide your own enhancements as you feel your project would need.

There will be a selection of courses available to learners including preparing for work or volunteering.
