ESOL Entry Level 3 Speaking and Listening

Improve your English speaking with this Entry 3 qualification for English Speakers of Other Languages [ESOL]. This is a nationally recognised qualification.  

Who is the course aimed at?

For Staffordshire ESOL residents aged 19+.Become more confident and fluent in everyday spoken English. This course will help you prepare for work, further study, or everyday life - to speak clearly, listen actively, and take part in more detailed conversations.

Entry requirements

An ESOL tutor will talk to you before the course starts to see if this is the right level for you.

Course Content

You will build your confidence in English and take part in group discussions, short talks and presentations. You will practice listening for detail and how to use formal or informal language. You will also develop your written and reading skills.

Learning Methods

You will work in small groups with a friendly and supportive tutor. Some activities will help your digital skills - on a phone or the library computer. You will be asked to complete some work at home to help your progress.

Your tutor will get to know you, what you want to achieve and support your progress. Please discuss any specific needs with your tutor so we can support you.  

Course Assessment

There is an exam at the end of the course. If you pass you will achieve the Ascentis Entry Level 3 - Speaking and Listening Award in ESOL Skills for Life

Learning materials

On enrolment you will need to provide proof of ID (passport, national ID card, driver's licence) and proof of eligibility. For the course you will need a pen, a note pad and a documents folder. For homework you will need an internet connected device, either a PC, a laptop, an iPad, tablet or smart phone - you could do this at your local library.

What can learners do next/progress onto?

You tutor will give you advice. You could go on to do Entry Level 3 Reading/Writing or Level 1 Speaking and Listening. Other community learning courses.
