Awesome Animals
Families are guided through fun, flexible hands-on activities to nurture a love of animals and the natural world. Designed to support child development, health and wellbeing and a connection to nature.

26 February 2026 to 25 March 2026, Thursdays
Emails are sent out at around 10:00am each week. There is one introductory zoom session on the first week from 11-11.45am. This is recorded if you can't make it live.
Who is this course aimed at?
Staffordshire parents and carers with children aged 3-8years (although this is flexible)

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, just an interest in the topic
Course Content
This course celebrates the wonders of the animal world, through shared activities and inspiring resources. Starting close to home, we will explore the joy of pets and wildlife in our gardens and communities, to then journey around the world to consider more exotic animals and endangered species.
Learning Methods
This is an online course held over 4 weeks. We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can try the exercises and explore the resources in your own time.
Learner Support
Your tutor guides this course and provides expert support wherever needed. We offer choice and flexibility to provide a quality learning experience. We work together to ensure the course is accessible and works for you. We offer a personal approach to our courses and are on hand to help and support throughout. Through WhatsApp groups and online platforms, we encourage learners to help each other, to create a supportive online learning environment.
Course Assessments
There are no formal assessments as part of this course. We ask for weekly feedback to encourage regular reflection. There are two compulsory final feedback forms to complete at the end of the course. Your family will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of this course.
Learning Materials
We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can try the activities and explore the resources in your own time. At the very start of the course we provide a 'resource' list. Each week there might be a few things you need to try the ideas, however we encourge you to reuse, recycle, adapt or borrow, before buying anything new!
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Many learners move onto other Community Learning courses, join local groups at their libraries and Family Hubs, or even set up their own groups to develop their connection and continue learning. We provide ideas for next steps throughout the course tailored to individual interests and aspirations too.
Are there any fees?
This course is fully funded and so there are no course fees.
