Assessment and monitoring

Class/subject teacher ensure that:

  • Recent assessment information is used to gain a better understanding of individual children/young person’s learning level and to identify the barriers to their learning in the classroom.

  • The social engagement and behaviour of their class groups are monitored and appropriate interventions are planned that can be delivered within class through the curriculum.

  • Children/young people are involved in the development and evaluation of social communication support strategies in class, where appropriate.

  • There is evidence that shows that refinements have been made within the classroom to meet the needs of children/young people with autism.

  • There is evidence that shows that the child/young person’s emotional well-being in the classroom has been addressed.
