Concerns about sensorineural hearing loss are identified at birth but other conductive, and sometimes temporary hearing loss, such as glue ear, can develop as a child gets older and this could be identified when a child is in early years.
If you are concerned about a child's hearing, discuss this with parents and advise that they request a hearing test from the GP.
