Safety Advisory Group

Burton Albion FC Safety Advisory GroupOur Safety of Sports Grounds Team coordinates and chairs a Safety Advisory Group (SAG) for each certified venue in the county.

Lord Taylor, author of the Final report into the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster said the Safety Advisory Group:

"exists primarily to provide specialist advice to the local authority so that it may effectively discharge its functions under the 1975/1987 Acts, it also provides a vital forum to develop a corporate approach to spectator safety."

Apart from appropriate members of local authority, a Safety Advisory Group should include:

  • Police representatives

  • Fire service

  • Ambulance service

  • Building control

  • The safety certificate holder, or other representantives of the ground management. This includes the Safety Officer.
