What you can and cannot put in your food waste caddy

What you can put in your food waste caddy

If it’s food, raw or cooked, it can usually go in your food waste caddy.

  • Please use your food waste caddies to recycle:
  • fruit and vegetable peelings
  • leftovers and plate scrapings
  • bread, cakes and biscuits
  • rice, beans and pasta
  • meat and fish, including bones
  • eggs, eggshells and dairy products
  • tea bags and coffee grounds
  • mouldy or out‑of‑date food (remove packaging first)

All cooked and raw food is accepted.

What you must not put in your food waste caddy

  • Please do not put the following items in your food waste caddy:
  • packaging of any kind
  • plastic bags (other than approved food waste caddy liners)
  • glass
  • metal
  • liquids, including oil, milk, soups or drinks
  • nappies
  • garden waste
  • pet waste
  • any other general household waste

A quick reminder

If it’s food, raw or cooked, it can go in your food waste caddy. Packaging and non‑food items should go in the correct recycling or waste bin instead.
