The Community Learning Service offers a wide range of free or low-cost courses for adults (primarily aged 19+) across Staffordshire.

Developing independence

Build your confidence and independence with this wellbeing course that will help you to progress with everyday skills. Travel safely, cook simple meals, shop smartly and stay safe online to live more confidently.

Digital Internet Skills

Have some very basic knowledge but need a refresher on using your device or the Internet. This course will explore filling out online forms, downloading and uploading files such as pictures, PDFs and Menus, Sharing files and attaching to emails as well as saving to folders and drives. Explore apps and settings and searching online for Information, Price comparisons, Maps, Shopping and Public Services all with safety, privacy and protection in mind.

Digital Office Skills

Unsure about Office Programs? Need to explore the basics of Formatting and editing in a Word processor, Create a simple Presentation (Slideshow) with some animations, explore creating a spreadsheet and using basic formulas? This course will explore the above as well as how to organise as well as saving to folders, file management and creating and organising files and folders with an explanation of the Cloud Storage and costs.

Exploring Smartphones

Want to know how to use your smartphone? Explore apps and settings. Learn how to set alarms, schedule appointments, add contacts, organise your phone, search the internet and communicate using WhatsApp or email. Learn how your phone can help you for work and everyday life.

Floristry and Plant Science

This course will cover a wide variety of floristry techniques to reflect changing seasons. Plant Science will underpin practical work. Shared reading and practical visits will be included in the course.

Gardening in the community

Be inspired to develop gardening skills. Work alongside others and strengthen community ties through hands-on projects that benefit both you and your neighbourhood.

Gardening with numbers

Develop your maths skills through practical gardening. Learn to use measuring, budgeting, and problem-solving through gardening tasks, making maths engaging, hands-on, and relevant to everyday life.

Gardening Woodcraft and the Environment

To introduce and help you feel more confident in gardening, wood working, and conserving our natural environment. Complete design and build projects as part of a team with other learners, and develop your personal skills too.
