Active Travel Scheme: Florendine Street, Tamworth - 20mph Zone
Staffordshire County Council is proposing improvements along:
- Tamworth Road
- Florendine Street
- Sheepcote Lane
- Highfield Avenue
- Ingram Pit Lane
The aim is to make it safer and easier for people to walk and cycle to Florendine Primary School in Amington.
The scheme will improve active travel routes, giving pedestrians and cyclists safer and more convenient ways to travel.
Following a previous public consultation, changes have been made to the design.
Proposed changes
- A new 20mph zone is proposed around Florendine Primary School to create a safer environment and encourage lower vehicle speeds.
- The previous proposal for a No Entry restriction from Tamworth Road into Florendine Street has been removed.

Traffic Regulation Order (TRO)
Before the work can begin, Staffordshire County Council must make and implement a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO).
The informal consultation on the proposed 20mph zone closes on 21 October 2026.
