Important Terms and Conditions

Eligibility and Course Offer

  • The offer of a course is at the discretion of the Police and may be withdrawn at any time.
  • You have no legal right to a course as an alternative to prosecution.
  • Your course must be completed within 5 months of the offence date or as stated in your letter.

Special Requirements

  • Notify us at the time of booking if you have any special needs (e.g. difficulty understanding English).
  • Hidden disabilities should be declared in the booking form or by emailing drivingcourses@staffordshire.gov.uk.
  • If bringing an interpreter, notify us in advance with their name and photo ID (must be 16+).

Attending a Digital Course

  • Ensure your device meets the recommended system requirements
  • Test your equipment and internet connection before the course.
  • Course links will be sent 24–72 hours before the course via email or SMS.
  • Use a personal email address and check spam/junk folders regularly.

Booking Confirmation

  • If you do not receive confirmation within 2 days, contact us immediately.
  • Keep your contact details up to date.

Rescheduling and Cancellations

  • Free rescheduling within 14 days of booking (unless the course is within that period).
  • Changes 5–21 days before the course: first reschedule is free.
  • Changes with less than 5 days’ notice: £25 admin fee.
  • Missed course? You have 48 hours to call and reschedule (admin fee applies).
  • Missed course with no contact: course cancelled and £45 partial refund issued.
  • Illness-related absences require a doctor’s note (form MED3). Admin fees may apply.

Course Conduct

  • There is no test. You must attend on time, participate, and show a willingness to improve.
  • Abusive, threatening, or disruptive behaviour will result in removal and referral to the Police.
  • Do not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Dress appropriately.
  • Switch off all devices except the one used for the course.
  • Do not record or photograph the course. Do not post course content or participant details online.
  • Do not use blurred or virtual backgrounds—use a plain wall if possible.

Identification Requirements

  • You must present a valid photocard licence or photo ID (passport, bus pass, NUS card, citizen card).
  • Failure to provide ID will result in non-completion. A new course date may be offered if time allows.

Non-Completion and Misconduct

  • Another person attending in your place is an offence and will result in non-completion.
  • Leaving the course early or failing to complete paperwork will result in non-completion.
  • Abuse or threats toward staff will result in your file being returned to the Police and no further course offers.

Data Protection

Your personal data will only be used for the purpose of the course and retained for one year unless you request removal.
