- Tarmac and Cemex have applied to extend a quarry and link it to a nearby approved site.

Cauldon Quarry Complex, Yelsway Lane, Cauldon (ref: SCC/22/0136/FULL-ES)
Aggregate Industries has applied for planning permission to:
- combine existing permissions for quarrying limestone and shale
- extend both quarries
- extend the time to extract remaining materials
- deposit mineral waste
- continue using processing and support plant

Land at Hixon Industrial Estate, Church Lane, Hixon, ST18 0PY (ref. SCC/24/0064/FULL-ES)
In Waste Ltd have submitted a planning application for a Change of use of an existing building (B2 / B8 use) to a Clinical Waste Treatment Facility.
The County Council’s Planning Committee will be considering a report on the application at the 2 October 2025 meeting.

Weeford Quarry, Lichfield (ref: L.20/06/810 MW)
H D Ricketts Ltd and Cemex UK Ltd have applied to continue sand extraction, with ongoing restoration to agriculture and biodiversity using recycled materials.
The plans include:
- keeping and improving existing processing, office and workshop facilities
- building a new ready mix concrete plant
- importing aggregates for blending

Newbold Quarry Lichfield Road, Barton Under Needwood - Northern Extension (ref: SCC/22/0068/FULL-ES)
- Holcim UK Limited has applied for a northern extension to Newbold Quarry to extract sand and gravel.
- The site would be restored for water-based recreation and nature conservation using imported inert material. Existing access, offices, plant, lagoons and infrastructure would continue to be used.
- An Environmental Statement outlines the likely impacts.
5 June 2025 - Planning Committee accepted the recommendation - MINDED TO PERMIT, subject to referral to the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government c/o the Planning Casework Unit and conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
Campions Wood Quarry, Wolverhampton Road, Cheslyn Hay, WV10 7LY (ref: SCC/24/0014/FULL-MAJ)
- Booth Asset Management Ltd. have submitted a planning application for a revised, viable, restoration scheme to achieve long term stability of slopes involving the importation of inert materials.
- 20 March 2025 - approved by Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
Bradwell West Quarry, off the A500, Newcastle under Lyme (ref: SCC/23/0020/FULL-MAJ)
- The Old Red Developments Limited have submitted a planning application for the re-opening of disused Etruria Marl (Mudstone) extraction site with subsequent restoration infilling.
- 1 August 2024 - approved by Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
Willington Quarry, Castleway Lane, Eggington, Derbyshire, DE65 6BW (ref: SCC/22/0107/FULL-ES)
- Cemex UK Operations Ltd has applied to Staffordshire and Derbyshire County Councils to extract about 600,000 tonnes of sand and gravel as a southern extension to Willington Quarry.
- An Environmental Statement outlines the likely impacts.
- Note: The reference number for the planning application submitted to Derbyshire County Council is CM9/0922/18.
- 1 August 2024 - approved by Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
- 6 March 2025 – Planning permission issued.
Rugeley Quarry, Stafford Brook Road, Rugeley (ref: CH.20/04/709 M)
- Cemex UK Operations Limited have applied to not comply with (to vary) conditions of planning permission no. CH.00/0577 & S.400/18 to revise the phasing of the winning and working of sand and gravel.
- A similar application was submitted in 2016 and approved by the Planning Committee in 2018 (ref. CH.16/05/709 M). The decision has however been held pending the completion of a legal agreement. The applicant is now seeking to revise and supersede the earlier application.
- 1 August 2024 - approved by Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
Whiston Hall Golf Club, Black Lane, Whiston (ref: SCC/21/0033/FULL) - appeal (allowed)
- Whistonhall Golf Club Ltd has applied to remodel part of the golf course to improve water management, access and safety.
- 9 June 2022 - refused by the Planning Committee
- 13 June 2022 - Refusal Notice issued
- 20 October 2022 - appeal lodged
- 5 March 2024 - the Inspector's report issued - appeal allowed and planning permission granted.

Uttoxeter Quarry, Spath, Uttoxeter, ST14 5AP (ref: SCC/21/0047/FULL-ES)
- Aggregate Industries UK Limited have submitted a planning application for the importation and temporary storage of limestone scalping with the erection and use of an aggregate washing plant.
- 1 December 2022 - approved by the Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
- 8 March 2024 - as the legal agreement has not yet been completed, the planning permission has not yet been issued.
Saredon Hill Quarry, Saredon Road, Little Saredon, WV10 7LJ (ref: SCC/21/0070/FULL-ES)
- NRS Saredon Aggregates Limited has applied for a southern extension to the quarry to extract sand and gravel.
- The site would be restored to agriculture and nature conservation using inert backfill. Existing access, offices, plant and lagoons would continue to be used.
- 1 May 2024 - planning permission issued following completion of a Section 106 agreement.
- 6 October 2022 - approved by the Planning Committee, subject to conditions and a Section 106 Legal Agreement.
- 1 May 2024 - Planning permission issued.
Uttoxeter Quarry, Spath, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, ST14 5AP (ref: SCC/21/0025/FULL-ES)
- Aggregate Industries UK Ltd has applied for a northern extension to Uttoxeter Quarry to extract sand and gravel.
- The site would be restored for agriculture, water-based recreation and nature conservation. Existing access, offices, plant, lagoons and infrastructure would continue to be used.
