Wombourne Library – The Forgotten Staffordshire Workhouse

7pm, Wednesday 28 October

Did you know that a purpose-built workhouse once stood at Trysull, serving communities across South Staffordshire?

Constructed in 1860, the Seisdon Union Workhouse was an imposing institution that supported parishes including Bobbington, Codsall, Enville, Himley, Kinver, Pattingham, Upper Penn, Lower Penn, Tettenhall, Trysull, Seisdon, Wombourne, Woodford Grange, and Rudge. Despite its scale and significance, this chapter of local history has quietly faded from memory.

Join historian Andrew Sloane as he uncovers the hidden stories of this overlooked institution and explores its impact on the lives of local people.

Refreshments served during an intermission.
