What is Staffordshire Day?
The initiative to celebrate Staffordshire was first announced in 2015. A public poll was held to choose the date, based on options with strong links to the county.
1 May was chosen. It marks the anniversary of Josiah Wedgwood setting up his pottery company in 1759 – a key moment in Staffordshire’s history.
The first official Staffordshire Day took place in 2016, the year the county turned 1000 years old.
Staffordshire Day 2025
