Protect your family against flu

Flu can be really serious for children, it often leads to a stay in hospital and even death.

That's why it’s important that they have the free flu vaccine - it's the best protection we have against flu. It’s not an injection it’s just a quick and painless nasal spray.

In Staffordshire the flu nasal spray is free for:

  • children aged 2 and 3 on August 31 2018 – (born between September 1 2014 and August 31, 2016)
  • children in reception class and school years one, two, three, four and five
  • children over the age of 6 months with a long-term health condition
  • children aged 2 to 17 with long-term health conditions

Your child's GP or school should have contacted you about getting your child vaccinated, if you haven’t heard anything please contact them.

More detailed information and answers to common questions about the flu vaccine are on the NHS Choices web pages.
