The government’s formal consultation on the future of how councils work in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views.
The government is now reviewing all the responses it has received. Ministers will consider the feedback over the coming months before making a decision on how local government in our area could change. A decision is expected in the summer of 2026.
As soon as the Government provides an update, we will share it here.

The Government has now launched its consultation on how councils work in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
The consultation is now open until Thursday 26 March, and you can find out more about the proposals and how to submit your views at www.staffordshirestokeLGR.org.uk
For those without internet access, hard copies of the Government's consultation questions can be found at your local library. A member of staff will be able to help you access the proposal documents using a library computer. You will need to post your consultation response back to the Government using the details provided on the form.
