What is the Strategic Direction?
The Strategic Direction is one of the council’s most important documents. It sets out:
- What we want to achieve for Staffordshire and its residents
- The improvements we will focus on over the next two years
- How we will work with local people, partners and businesses
- How we will spend public money wisely
It provides a clear direction for everything we do - from caring for vulnerable residents to maintaining roads, supporting local businesses, protecting our countryside, and improving community life.
Strategic Priorities
1. People
Early help and prevention
Give people the right support, at the right time and in the right place so they can live healthier, happier, more independent lives.
2. Economy
Creating an environment for growth
Create a successful, vibrant economy by making Staffordshire a leading place to live, work, visit and invest.
3. Connectivity
Highways and digital infrastructure
Improve connectivity through better transport and digital infrastructure to help communities and businesses thrive.
4. Communities
Safety and resilience
Build safer, stronger and more connected communities by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, and supporting local networks.
5. Efficiency and Value for Money
Making every pound count
Manage public money carefully by shaping services that work for local people and planning well for the future.
