Funeral options
You can choose to organise a funeral with or without a funeral director. Funerals can be tailored to reflect personal, cultural or religious preferences.
You can choose:
- Burial or cremation
- A religious, humanist, or civil ceremony
- To hold the ceremony at home, outdoors, or in any suitable location (it does not need to be a licensed venue)
- To use a funeral director, or arrange everything yourself
- To include clergy or not, depending on your wishes
- To follow any religious beliefs or traditions
Burials on private land may be allowed, but you must notify your local council’s planning office and environmental health department.
