A mother of three from Tamworth has launched her own business providing support and coaching for parents of children with special educational needs – using a county council support programme to help get her up and running.

Stacy Anderson’s new business, Parenting with Confidence, offers a supportive group coaching experience with the first cohort starting in June, as well as a series of live workshops.

She embarked on an exciting entrepreneurial journey after completing Staffordshire County Council business support schemes.

Stacy initially participated in the county council’s Women in Business Programme, a four-week series of interactive workshops that focused on key business skills and offered expert advice while connecting her to like-minded women in the area.

She then worked with a marketing expert under the Get Started and Grow programme as well as undergoing training and coaching to bring her vision to life. Get Started and Grow is run by industry experts the NextGen and is funded through the county council.

Get Started and Grow scheme is for new businesses up to five years old. It provides a comprehensive package of support to help them grow and flourish – including advice and guidance on HR, accounting, legal, social media, branding and website design and management. The scheme is available for all Staffordshire based companies, excluding Stoke-on-Trent. Businesses which have been established for more than five years can access the Succeed and Grow programme also through the county council.

Stacy said:

I am a parent of three boys, two of whom are neurodivergent, and I understand the challenges, the isolation and the self-doubt that can come with a diagnosis.

Through my own journey of growth and resilience, I have learned to be a voice for my children and lead by example.

Now I am here to help other parents do the same – finding their inner strength, embracing their role as advocates and ensuring their children are seen, heard and supported."

Staffordshire County Council’s assistant director for business and enterprise Anthony Hodge said:

It can be a daunting prospect pursuing an ambition to start a new business with the many challenges that come with it, but our expert teams are on hand now to make those initial months and years more manageable. We’re pleased to see it having an impact with Stacy’s business.

Free advice and guidance in areas from finance to digital marketing is available and will be tailored to the business’s needs. This really can make a difference and will boost confidence where there can be understandable apprehension.

We’re committed to provide the right environment for small businesses to thrive, particularly in the first few years.”

Through her workshops, Stacy helps parents trust their instincts, take control of their parenting journey and build confidence, alongside accepting progress over perfection and finding strength in a supportive community.
