Staffordshire Sustainability Board Visits Four Ashes Energy Recovery Facility
Members of the Staffordshire Sustainability Board (SSB) recently visited the FourAshes Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) as part of their ongoing commitment to understanding and improving waste management across the county. The site visit provided members with a first-hand look at the state-of-the-art processes used to manage Staffordshire’s residual household waste.
During the tour, SSB members learned how less than 1% of Staffordshire’s residual waste now goes to landfill, with the vast majority being processed at Four Ashes ERF. This facility is a leading example of responsible waste disposal, using advanced technology to recover energy from waste that cannot be recycled, thereby reducing reliance on landfill and supporting Staffordshire’s environmental objectives.
Following the site tour, the Board held its regular meeting, where members discussed key issues affecting Staffordshire’s environment and communities. The agenda included updates on waste management strategy, progress on sustainability pledges, and opportunities for further collaboration across the county.
The SSB remains dedicated to championing best practice in waste management and sustainability, ensuring Staffordshire continues to lead the way in environmental stewardship.
