Inset Days and School Closures

Please note: Any fixed inset days that apply to all schools are on this page. Schools also have 4 extra inset days per year and the dates can differ. Check your inset days by using the school closures list or by contacting your school.

Term dates are set on the basis of 195 days and inset days should be allocated from within the agreed dates.

Autumn Term 2023

Academies, free schools, foundation schools and voluntary aided schools

The dates above only apply to community, voluntary controlled, community special and maintained nursery schools in Staffordshire.

Other types of schools have freedom over their school terms and holiday dates.

They are encouraged to accept the dates set by us but they are not required to. You should contact your school for confirmation of term dates.

iCal calendar file

The School Term Dates Calendar (349 KB) file can be imported into Outlook and other calendar applications.

How do I view the file in Outlook?

  1. Click on the file link above, and select "Save".
  2. Save the file to a location on your PC.
  3. Open Outlook and choose "File" and then "Import and Export…"
  4. Then choose "Import an iCalendar (.ics) file" and locate the file.
  5. Choose 'Import' to import these dates into your main calendar, or choose to ‘Open as New’ if you don’t want this to be added to your main calendar.

The file can also be imported into other products as well as Outlook, such as Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Lotus Notes, etc.

The calendar is also available to view using the Google Calendar application. This will open in your browser and is an alternative to downloading the iCal file.
