ESOL: Preparing to working in Care (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
This ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) course is designed for learners who want to work in the care sector.
Who is this course aimed at?
The course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19+. This course is perfect for non-native English speakers who want to work in the care sector, such as healthcare assistants, support workers, and care home staff.
Entry Requirements
You should have basic English skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening) and a genuine interest in working in the care sector.
Course Content
The course combines Care, reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills each week to prepare you for work in social care. You will practice your speaking and listening skills through discussions and role-play. You will also develop your writing skills by working on letters, emails, and care notes.

You will be taught face to face by a friendly and experienced assessor
Learner Support
Classes are small to ensure your teacher can provide you with the help and support you need to enable you to confidently access the class learning materials. Individual specific needs will be discuss at the start of the course.
Course Assessments
There are no formal exams in this course. However, you and your teacher will track your progress through an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and various activities, including discussions and note-taking, group activities and role plays', real life scenarios, one on one assessments and feedback.
Learning Materials
We will provide the workbooks. You will need to bring a pen and paper to take notes and to be able to complete the workbooks during the course.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
After completing the course, you could move on to an ESOL or Health and Social Care qualification at an appropriate level.
