Office IT SKills

Who is this course aimed at?

This introduction course will help to cover the basics of using further information technology skills within different office  environments and workplaces.

Entry Requirements

Staffordshire residents aged 19+. Learners who would like to develop their knowledge of key office computer skills to develop a current or future employment role. 

Course Content

This course will take your existing knowledge and skills of IT and help you to develop them further in readiness for the workplace. As part of the programme you will learn more about using Emails, the internet, Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as ensuring you know how to stay safe online. Equally, there will be sections that cover how to use basic AI and how to identify scams produced by AI Content. 

Learning Methods

The trainer will deliver the course in a friendly and welcoming classroom environment. You will have the opportunity to work independently and with your classmates in a range of activities and discussions.

Learner Support

All sessions are adapted according to the individual needs of learner. Accessibility : Newcastle: Inaccessible for those with limited mobility. Burton: Ground floor fully accessible. Biddulph: Lift available fully accessible. English and Maths initial assessments are carried out prior to the start of the course.

Course Assessments

No formal assessments will take place. Learner’s work and interactions on the course will be informally assessed with constructive feedback provided by tutors. Whilst on the course learners will complete an Individual Learning plan recording comments, feedback and work completed. 

Learning Materials

Learners will be provided all course materials as part of the programme.

What can learners do next/progress onto?

Throughout your course you will be provided with information and advice about other learning opportunities available to you. Progression opportunities may include other Community Learning courses, accredited courses such as maths, English or Digital or supported to seek volunteering or employment opportunities.
