NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme - Staffordshire

Workplace Health logoType 2 diabetes is a potentially serious health condition that can cause long-term health problems. It can lead to sight loss, kidney failure, loss of a limb, and makes people at least twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke.

It’s important that your employees find out if they are at high risk of Type 2 diabetes, so that they can get support to lower their risk. They can use the ‘know your risk of Type 2 diabetes tool’ to find out if they are at risk of developing the condition. This only takes a few minutes to complete.

If they are at high risk, they may be eligible for free support from the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme in Staffordshire.

This involves an initial review with a Health and Wellbeing Coach who will assess their health and wellbeing and understand their individual needs, motivations and programme goals. They will then join a local group programme, which consists of nutrition guidance and support, individual strategies and tools to support long-term progress and exercise sessions and advice. During these group sessions they will learn about the prevention of Type 2 diabetes and how to overcome pre-diabetes.

So why not encourage your employees to use the tool, so they can ‘know their risk’?
