Dignity in Care Awards 2025
People from Staffordshire are being invited to nominate anyone aged 18 or over, working in adult care, paid or unpaid can be nominated in one of the eight different award categories below:
- Answer:
- This award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate a new member of staff who commenced and remained in employment in the adult care sector within the previous 12 months. Evidence is available that demonstrates that the individual consistently promotes and delivers a service with dignity. The individual can either be returning to the sector after at least two years away or be joining for the first time
- Answer:
- This award is designed to honour and celebrate the unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements of an individual who has devoted at least 20 years to the adult social care sector. The Long Service Dignity Champion is someone whose long-term commitment to the field is marked by an exemplary record of promoting and upholding the principles of dignity in all aspects of their work.
- Answer:
- This award celebrates an individual who provides paid support or care to Staffordshire adults in their own homes or through community services. This person will demonstrate dedication to promoting dignity in every aspect of their work. The award is not limited to primary carers; it can also recognise staff members such as activity coordinators or kitchen staff who contribute significantly to the service. This person will consistently go above and beyond to deliver person-centred care that honours individuality. They empower those they support, delivering their services with compassion and respect.
- Answer:
- This award honours an individual involved in providing paid support or care to Staffordshire adults within a Residential or Nursing home. Evidence should demonstrate that the individual consistently upholds and delivers services with dignity. This award applies to a wide range of roles, such as carers, activity coordinators and kitchen staff, who significantly contribute to the service, regardless of their role.
- Answer:
- This award will be given to the Registered Manager who has demonstrated a high level of expertise together with exceptional skills in managing the complex business of running an adult's regulated service. They should have created a culture where dignity is prioritised. Their policies, procedures, and practices demonstrate that dignity is embedded across all aspects of the service. They show vision in developing person-centred care and supporting staff to meet the changing needs of the residents/service users.
- Answer:
- This award recognises any unpaid carers who support a citizen(s) of Staffordshire. An unpaid carer is an individual who provides adult social care and support to a family member, friend, or neighbour who is unable to care for themselves due to illness, disability, or aging. These caregivers play a crucial role in the adult social care offering assistance with daily activities, emotional support, and sometimes medical tasks. How does this person incorporate dignity principles into their caregiving approach to honour a person's worth and maintaining their quality of life to the greatest extent possible.
- Answer:
This award will be given to the individual who demonstrates how compassionate and professional they must be to be able to support someone with dignity who is at the end of their life. They should be able to provide evidence that the learning and development they have acquired has been consistently put into practice when supporting someone at the end of their life.
How have they supported family, friends, have they devised and followed an advanced care plan, how have they ensured the person is comfortable and as pain free and dignified as possible?
- Answer:
- This specialist award celebrates the exceptional dedication of professionals in clinical roles within adult social care. This individual will consistently promote and uphold the principles of dignity and can demonstrate outstanding clinical expertise, compassion, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the delivery of their care. They will be able to demonstrate how they care in a dignified and person centred way in every aspect of their work, ensuring that all interactions and treatments are conducted with the utmost respect and kindness.
The awards launch on Saturday 1st February 2025 to coincide with Dignity Action Month, a national celebration to make sure people who use care services are treated as individuals and with dignity.
