Parent and carer responsibilities

We understand putting your child on transport can be daunting for parents and carers.

As the parent/carer you have a responsibility to:

  • Provide the driver/passenger assistant with information specific to your child’s need and let them if their needs change
  • Provide us with at 10 day notice of any changes i.e. a change of address
  • Have your child ready to board the vehicle and make arrangements for a responsible adult to greet then from it
  • Report any concerns or queries to us when they arise and so they do not escalate
  • Let your child know what is expected of them whilst on transport (link to the pupil’s responsibilities)
  • Let us know of any changes to your child's wheelchair (if applicable) so that we can ensure your child can be continue to be transported safely
  • Provide the driver/passenger assistant with your contact details for use in the connection to the operation of the contract
  • Be aware of that transport has been agreed from the permanent home address only and arrange to suit personal circumstances
  • Beware that we are legally obliged to review school transport services periodically (link to route reviews) and this can result in change to your child's arrangements.
