Giving items a second life

Rescue Me is an innovative initiative being rolled out across recycling centres in Staffordshire. The scheme aims to reuse and repurpose items that are still in good condition, such as:

  • Furniture
  • Gardening tools
  • Working electrical items
  • Household items
  • Toys
  • Baby equipment

Many charities, community groups, schools and playgroups in Staffordshire are already benefiting from these items. The more groups that get involved, the more we can save from going to waste.

If you're unsure whether an item can be reused, speak to a recycling operative on-site or email wastesavvy@staffordshire.gov.uk.

If your charity, community group or school would like to take part in the Rescue Me initiative, please get in touch via email for more details.

Pop-up events

Items collected through Rescue Me are only accessible to authorised organisations. To make them available to the wider public, we’re hosting pop-up events across Staffordshire. Residents can purchase items at these events, with all proceeds going to the supporting organisation.

Every item donated stays within the community, either repurposed by local groups or sold locally — ensuring all funds raised directly benefit Staffordshire residents.
