Driving to school - park & stride
If you need to drive your child to school, you can help reduce congestion and improve safety by using Park & Stride. This means parking a short distance away and walking the rest of the journey.

- Improves road safety for children and families
- Encourages physical activity
- Supports cleaner air and a healthier environment
How to take part
- Park a short distance from school and walk the final part of the journey
- Use designated Park & Stride sites where available (e.g. local car parks, churches, pubs)
- If no official site is available, use a journey planner or map to find a safe place to park
Parking guidance
Do:
- Park safely and legally
- Keep zigzag and double yellow lines clear
- Leave space for emergency vehicles
Don’t:
- Block driveways or access routes
- Leave your engine running
- Arrive too early and cause congestion
