Young pedestrians ‘Stepping Out’ safely after learning essential road skills

• Children across Staffordshire are learning vital road safety skills through the Stepping Out programme.

• The scheme helps Year 3 and 4 pupils build confidence walking safely near roads.

• Practical, supervised training supports safer independent travel.

Trentham Estate becomes first official Staffy sponsor

• Trentham Estate is the first organisation to sponsor a ‘Staffy’ sculpture for a new public art trail celebrating 10 years of Staffordshire Day.

• The sculpture will be displayed in Stafford during the 10 week trail before returning to Trentham as a lasting legacy.

• Painted by local schoolchildren, the sculpture will feature Trentham’s colours and help promote Staffordshire to visitors and businesses.

• Trading Standards warn of illegal skin-lightening products being sold on high streets.

• These products can contain banned chemicals that pose serious health risks.

• Advice includes never to buy from unverified sellers or social media accounts, never use on children and always speak to your doctor before use.

Walking tours and spotlight talks bring Staffordshire’s history to life

• Staffordshire History Centre are hosting a range of walking tours and spotlight talks on the county’s rich history.

• Walks include exploration into Stafford’s grisly past of crime and punishment and links to the monarchy, while talks span topics including fashion and military history.

• The events are either free or at low cost.

• Public invited to information event on Doxey Road regeneration scheme.

• Event will take place on Friday 27 February between 3pm and 7pm at Stafford's St Thomas & St Andrews Church.

• People will have chance to ask questions and make comments on the preparation and regeneration works.

Staffy art trail design competition opens to the public

• Residents can now enter a competition to design a Staffy statue for a major new public art trail.

• A copy of Staffy's outline can be downloaded online or collected from any Staffordshire library.

• Up to three winners will be picked, whose designs will be brought to life by professional local artists.

• Staffordshire County Council agrees three-year Community Safety Strategy.
• The plan, the first of its kind for the council, sets out how the council and its partners will protect people and reduce crime.
• The four priorities are protecting vulnerable people, safer and stronger places, prevention, and effective partnership with clear accountability.
