The panel's role is to scrutinise the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, to promote transparency of Police and Fire and Rescue business and also to support the Commissioner in the effective exercise of their functions.

Petitions to the Panel

Petitions must include:

  • More than 100 signatures (including name and address)
  • Signatures must be from Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent residents
  • The name, address and contact details for the petition organiser
  • A clear and concise statement about what the petition is for and what action the petitioners want the Panel to take (or stop taking)

Petitions which are considered to be abusive or inappropriate will not be accepted. 

Petitions will be considered at the next available meeting. One person from the group will be entitled to present the petition at the Panel meeting and explain the reasoning behind it.

The Panel will consider and decide on an appropriate course of action.
